Post Falls Chamber- Volunteer of the Year

Wow. I was blown away by this announcement. I felt embarrassed. I never expected to be acknowledged with this award and I feel that there are so many other deserving people in our community….

Everyone knows how professional soccer works. Usually, the forwards get to make the shot that scores the goal- again and again. And when they score the goal, the whole team surrounds them, lifts them up in the air and the crowd goes wild.

I do in fact, feel like a forward. Always scoring the goals. Always winning the game, always receiving the praise. But soccer has a silent hero. The silent hero that continuously fights harder than anyone else on the team. The wing back. The wing back tirelessly runs the ball all the way up the field and lays it nicely at the feet of the forward. The forward shoots and scores with all of the fanfare. The wing back hurries back to their position to do it all over again.

When I accept this wonderful award on February 18th I share it with the person who silently caries the ball up the field and lays it at my feet. My best friend, husband of 18 years and my business partner- David Fleischman will be sharing this award with me. Your “behind the scenes” support will not go unnoticed.

It’s your turn to score the goal.
